Loro Piana win first big title in UK London, June 17, 2007.- Juan Martin Nero scored the winning goal in the latter minutes of a seventh, sudden death extra chukka to give Loro Piana their first major victory in the UK. Ellerston took the lead in the first chukka, but Loro Piana came back to level the scores and then take the lead by the end of the second chukka. David Stirling was in great form for Loro Piana, scoring three field goals in the third chukka to give his team a 7-6 lead going into the fourth. Stirling's great performance in this chukka particularly, and in the game in general, saw him be awarded the Most Valuable Player Award from HM The Queen. The pony he was playing in this chukka, Nutria, a nine-year-old bay mare from Argentina, was named the Best Playing Pony. The fourth and fifthchukkas belonged to Loro Piana, as they consistently found the flags, while Ellerston seemed unable to score. Juan Martin Nero showed why he is considered 10 goals in the States by producing a great neck shot to score which stunned even the commentators into silence! Suddenly, in the sixth, the Pieres boys came alight and by the final whistle and levelled the scores once more. After a short break to change horses, a tense seventh chukka began. Both teams seemed unable to keep possession of the ball for longas the tension was starting to show.
